THE JOURNEY:
In early 2018 my health drastically changed due to a physical condition I was born with, my doctor had me stop work completely. I was born missing 22 bones from my knees down to my feet leaving me with 3 toes on each foot. This affects the bone and muscle structure in my legs, feet and back. The doctors have never been able to provide an explanation why I was born this way as this is not hereditary and considered it a rare anomaly. Because of this, I had to focus on rest and swimming as much as possible. Swimming is and has been the only activity that I can do where I don't feel pain and the Mediterranean Sea has been my best physical therapist!
Doctors often refer to me as a "Walking Miracle" since to this day no one understands how I've manged to walk with the design I was given. When I was born I had no feet - only 3 little toes at the end of each leg. They told my parents I would NEVER have a normal life, I would never walk and be in a wheel chair. However, both of my parents have a deep Faith in God and Jesus Christ (Evangelical Father, Messianic Jewish Mother). They prayed non-stop and after 2-3 days in the hospital my feet suddenly appeared! A divine miracle to the doctors as they had no words to explain this either.
Well, not only did I figure out how to walk, but I learned to run and dance and climb and managed to travel the planet - Alone - showing them that Faith in the One who designed me leads to miracles!
And so after decades of exploring and living abroad I ended up in Greece.
While I've lived with pain/discomfort most of my life I never expected this change in my health to come so soon, at least not until I was much older....but, adaptation has become key to managing the pain and this new chapter in my life. So I am swimming towards it, embracing it and making the best of each moment. A Blessing in disguise!
This website and calendars are proof of that.
Despite my challenge, I have Faith that The Creators plan is better than mine and I have no doubt after all the countries I've visited and lived in that Greece and its warm waters are where HE needed me to be for such a time as this. I prayed for strength...and so the challenges began.
I "rode the wave" of the financial crisis when I first arrived, then the global pandemic's attack on humanity, the psychological warfare here and around the globe, the energy crisis, the chaotic inflation on food and lastly witness to a crime scene and all the troubles that come with that - all on my own. Health wise I had my first surgery outside of the U.S. back in 2022 and my disability case is STILL pending. These have been "rough waters" to say the least, but without my Faith and Trust in his Word and plan, I would've surely drowned.
2023-2024 was focused on catching up.
Time seems to be moving faster and so many things seem to have fallen between the cracks...1 step forward 2 steps back.
I was not able to put out a calendar last year due to circumstances beyond my control. Many things have changed personally, closing several doors while many new doors have opened.
It has been a long recovery from my surgery, I'm still not feeling 100% but am slowly getting there one day at a time.
In the spring of 2023 I began volunteering in animal rehabilitation again, something I had done for several years since the mid 1990's. It has been a rewarding experience learning about the Greek wild life, a priceless education that can only come from volunteering there. I have met so many precious souls - both human and animal and grateful for the opportunity to help in any way that I can. This helped prepare me in the loss of my own feline companion as she struggled with cancer. For 6 months her tumors took over her little body. By the end of summer she passed away at 13yrs old.
In the spring of 2024 I began volunteering 1 day a week at an orphanage next to the beach that I have been studying and documenting for the last 12 years. After 7 years of prayer, the doors to go in finally opened!
I am teaching English with music and art with my own method that I developed after years of working at private schools here. It's been such an amazing experience, both challenging and extremely rewarding. I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to work with these amazing souls and Blessed to see the positive changes in their lives!
Most of the year was focused on finishing the data base for the marine species of fauna and flora, it has taken longer than expected as some of these species were difficult to research, but a good section of it is up now and hope it helps shed some light on some of my marine friends.
By Fall, my canine companion and body guard that lived at the beach I go to suddenly passed away. A tragic loss for me as he was like a guardian angel in disguise always by my side for the last 12 yrs. He was 16yrs old.
I was not able to travel to the destination I had planned for The Biblical Journey calendar this year, but have Faith I will do so in 2025.
So in the mean time, I went through all of my ruin and artifact photos and put together a new photo edition calendar featuring some of my favorite images taken while free diving in Glyfada, Kavouri, Vougliameni and Sounio - Greece. As for The Biblical Journey calendar I have decided to re-release them so you have a variety to pick from for 2025.
The Biblical Journey calendar contains scripture that I spent months researching. They are related to the sea and life in general, many are from the book of Psalms, scriptures that have helped me in these trials and are relevant to the times we are living in. One verse per month says a lot, each image compliments the verse.T
Here are glimpses of what the Creator has shown me while swimming, free diving and exploring these Ancient Waters.
The seasons of Life may change, but his WORD is Always the same.
I hope you enjoy them and that they bring you peace and encouragement in these strange times that we are living in.
